Review + giveaway | Melvita natural and organic skin care

Today I’m going green with natural skin care products from Melvita, a French natural and organic cosmetics brand that was founded in 1983. I won’t lie, I don’t always use natural cosmetics and in my beauty stash you will find a mix of both natural and synthetic skin care products. But I do think it’s a big plus when skin care products are green. It’s better for the skin, better for the environment, better for the future of our planet, and just better all around. Today I am reviewing eight Melvita products for you, and I am also giving away two Melvita gift boxes!

Melvita Douche de Rose | Melvita Rose Shower

Review (Melvita skin care) (6)

The Melvita Douche de Rose or Rose Shower is a gentle soap-free shower gel with rose oil, flower water and rose seed milk and with an amazing (surprise surprise) rose scent. My skin isn’t particularly dry or sensitive and I don’t really have to watch what shower products I use, but I really like this Melvita shower gel. I love its delicate rose scent, the light and satiny soft texture of it, and the baby soft rose-scented skin it gives me.

Melvita Crème de Beauté Mains et Ongles | Melvita Beauty Cream Hands and Nails

Review (Melvita skin care) (7)

Summer or winter, my hands always feel like the Sahara desert. That’s why I always have tubes of hand cream scattered around the apartment:  on my desk, in the bathroom, in the kitchen, in my bag,… Everywhere. The reigning hand cream queen of the moment gets to sit on my bedside table, and right now it’s my new Melvita Crème de Beauté Mains et Ongles that is occupying the hand cream throne. The texture of it is deliciously creamy, it has an amazing can’t-stop-smelling-my-hands rose scent, and it makes my hands velvety soft. The only downside is that the cream feels a bit sticky and that it takes a while to get absorbed. It’s probably not the best hand cream for on the go, but apart from that I love everything about it.

Melvita Nectar de Roses Hydratant | Melvita Moisturizing Rose Nectar

Review (Melvita skin care) (9)

Melvita’s Nectar de Roses Hydratant is a godsend for extremely dry skin. The 100% natural rose ingredients in the nectar intensely moisturize the skin around the clock and restore the skin’s moisture balance. I personally don’t have dry skin (on the contrary even, my skin is on the oily side) so I didn’t think it would be a good idea to test the Nectar de Roses on my face. That’s why I tried the product on my neck and cleavage. The Melvita Nectar de Roses Hydratant smells lovely and it keeps my skin nourished and hydrated.

Melvita Nectar Bright Masque Peeling 2-en-1 | Melvita Nectar Bright Brightening Exfoliation Mask

Review (Melvita skin care) (10)

The Nectar Bright Peeling 2-en-1 is, take a wild guess, a 2-in-1 facial mask. The extract of five white flowers in the formula brightens the skin tone, and the silica microbeads in it gently exfoliate the skin. It’s spring again, and that means that my melasma (a sort of hyperpigmentation) is back again after a short winter sleep. So of course I was very enthusiastic to see the brightening effect of the mask. I’m afraid it’s a bit too early to notice any brightening yet, but I can already say that the exfoliating capacities of the mask are impressive. I leave the mask on for about ten minutes to let it work its brightening magic, and then I slowly rinse it off while carefully scrubbing my face. The thick mask transforms into a delicious creamy scrub when it comes into contact with water, and it gently exfoliates my skin and leaves it feeling crazy soft afterwards.

Melvita Eau Extraordinaire Narcisse | Melvita Narcissus Extraordinary Water

Review (Melvita skin care) (4)

The Melvita Eau Extraordinaire Narcisse contains narcissus, papaya, lemon and olive leaf. You use this product before your daily moisturizer to give you skin an extra moisture and radiance boost and to delicately perfume it. The texture of the product is really like that of water, and what I do is I soak a cotton pad in the product and then go over my face with that after cleansing and before putting on my daily moisturizer. I don’t really notice the smell or the effects of the product, but it doesn’t hurt to put it on, so why not continue to use it, right.

Melvita Huile Argan Réparatrice | Melvita Repairing Argan Oil

Review (Melvita skin care) (5)

I am a bit embarrassed to admit it, but Melvita’s Huile Argan Réparatrice is my very first argan product. Yeeeeees, I know, I deserve to be spanked. If what they say is true, then argan oil is a wonder product for dry, sensitive and damaged skin. And it should also do wonders for your hair, nails and even sore muscles. I personally use the Huile Argan Réparatrice on my nails and cuticles and on scars. The ultra-rich oil keeps my nails healthy and keeps the skin around them in top shape. And scars seem to heal faster and better when I use this argan oil on them.

Melvita Apicosma Body Baume Fondant Corps | Melvita Apicosma Body Ultra-nourishing Body Balm

Review (Melvita skin care) (2)

The Melvita Apicosma Body Baume Fondant Corps is a deliciously creamy body balm with honey, cacao butter and stevia leaf to nourish and hydrate dry and sensitive skin. I am crazy about creamy body products (body butter addict here) and this Apicosma Body Baume stole my heart in no time. The texture feels pleasant on the skin, the formula is quite impressive and the smell is fantastic. I’m in love!

Melvita Huile Lactée Démaquillante | Melvita Milky Cleansing Oil

Review (Melvita skin care) (3)

Melvita’s Huile Lactée Démaquillante is a cleansing oil for the face and the eyes. Anyone who visits my blog regularly has probably noticed that I tend to go for heavy eye make-up, which is why I need a good heavy-duty eye make-up remover. I hate having to soak cotton pad after cotton pad in make-up remover to get rid of every last bit of eyeshadow and mascara. Melvita’s Huile Lactée Démaquillante is an oil-based make-up remover, so even waterproof make-up doesn’t stand a chance against this product. The oil is quite thick (Melvita says it’s ‘milky’, but I think it’s more like liquid honey) and I find it very easy to use. And the best of all? Its subtle rose scent of course. Hmmmm!

My first experience with Melvita was definitely a good one. The products have a very pleasant texture, they smell lovely, and they’re completely natural. That means no colorants, no odorants, no conservatives or other potentially harmful ingredients. Nice!
