Smashbox recently launched four new powder blushes and today I am reviewing three of the four shades for you. The Smashbox Halo Longwear Blush is a mineral powder blush, enriched with goji berry, that adds a fresh, healthy and long-wearing glow to your cheeks. Let’s have a closer look!

Color and pigmentation

The Smashbox Halo Longwear Blush comes in four shades of which I have three. The first and lightest shade is Warm Glow, a warm nude that looks the most natural of all three blushes. Warm Glow gives my cheeks a healthy warm flush that looks 100% my own, like I have just spent the afternoon outdoors. Pretty! The second blush is called Peachy Dream and is a gorgeous coral shade. It’s also my personal favorite. It’s just such a beautiful peachy pink! In Bloom finally is pink. It’s the most girly shade of the three and adds a very sweet pink touch to my cheeks.

All three blushes are quite soft as far as color intensity goes, but they’re all very buildable. This makes the Smashbox Halo Longwear Blushes pretty fool-proof. If you like heavily pigmented blushes and want to be done in one sweep, then you might not love the Smashbox Halo Longwear blushes, but I personally think they’re great.

Packaging and texture

Do you feel like running away screaming at the thought of having to work with mineral (and thus loose) powder? Wait a second before you dash off, because Smashbox came up with a nifty little twist system for their Halo Longwear blushes. All you have to do is give the jar a little twist until the right amount of powder comes to the surface. No more spilling and wasting powder, woohoo! Even if you turn the jar upside down, the powder doesn’t spill out. This is great, thank you, Smashbox!

The powder itself is very fine and concentrated and can be easily picked up with a blush brush or a kabuki. It’s not gritty and doesn’t crumble. All very very very convenient!

Score: 5/5

Finish and wear

Smashbox’s Halo Longwear Blush has a matte finish and doesn’t contain any shine or shimmer particles. That doesn’t mean it looks chalky or dry, though. Au contraire, the effect is very natural and glowy. So pretty! And I have nothing but positive things to say about the wear of these blushes either. At bed time the color looks just as pretty and vibrant as right after applying it in the morning. So yes, the ‘longwear’ in the name is definitely there for a reason.

End result: 14/15

Not a perfect score, but still a very impressive 14 out of 15. I took off one point because the color intensity of the blushes is quite soft, but that’s really the only downside I can think of. And that’s seriously nitpicking. Overall the Smashbox Halo Longwear blushes are great: beautiful shades, a gorgeous natural-looking finish, easy to work with, dummy-proof and longwearing. Plenty of reasons for a well-deserved 14 out of 15.

  1. These are gorgeous! I’ve been wanting to try this type of compact that shaves the product off for a while. I know Smashbox released their version first then NYX. I definitely want to try the Smashbox–specifically that gorgeous peachy shade! It’s so lovely on you :)

  2. These are quite lovely! I’ve always wondered how well they perform, and it seems they are a great blush after all. Less mess than other mineral versions, for sure!

  3. Yeah, the pigmentation looks very soft at the pic. But I think that in natural they look great. I like the soft glowy shimmer. I like them all :)
