Three and a half weeks ago I started using two new firming body products by Le Petit Marseillais that would help me get a toned cellulite-free killer body. I have been using both products daily and today it’s time for a review. I bet you’re dying to find out if the Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante and the Lait Fermeté Hydratant lived up to the expectations, huh? :-) Well, I got to experience it first-hand, so let’s get started with the review!
Le Petit Marseillais Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante
Before I talk to you about the smell, the packaging and whatnot, I want to answer the question that I am sure is on everyone’s lips: does the Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante really diminish cellulite? Because let’s be honest, that’s what it’s really about here. The answer is yes. But wait, because there are a few conditions. First of all you really need to use the product daily. Le Petit Marseillais says that you get the best results if you apply the product twice a day, but finding the time to use it in the morning was virtually impossible for me. My morning routine is already long enough as it is, so I used the oil once a day in the evening. Every day. Consistently. And that’s not all, because it’s also important how you use the oil. Just slapping it on won’t be enough. You need to really massage it into your skin. My boyfriend says I look like I am kneading dough when I’m massaging in the oil, and while he’s a total meanie for laughing at me, it’s actually good that he said that because that’s how you should look when applying the oil: it’s not just the product itself that works against cellulite, but it’s the combination of the oil and a deep tissue massage. By massaging the skin you remove the underlying fat deposits (because that is what cellulite is) and you make the skin smooth and supple again. So, again, does the Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante diminish cellulite? Yes, but you do have to use the product daily and really massage it in. And eating a healthy diet and exercising a bit probably won’t hurt either. So throw away that chocolate bar and bust out that sports bra! ;-)
Le Petit Marseillais’ Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante contains lemon oil and star anise, but I don’t really recognize either of these when I smell the product. Not that that’s a problem, because the smell isn’t unpleasant. So whatever it is that I am smelling, it smells okay. It’s a bit of a Mediterranean smell, actually, so that goes perfectly with Le Petit Marseillais’ Mediterranean image.
As you can tell from the name of the product, the Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante is an oil. This makes the product really pleasant to use. It really glides over your skin and makes massaging the product into the skin a piece of cake. The oil makes your skin feel amazingly soft and smooth, and it doesn’t feel sticky. I really like it!
Packaging and usage
I’m usually not a big fan of body oils because they often get messy (as in: oil stains on the floor and the carpet that you can’t get rid of without soap). But Le Petit Marseillais did a great job solving that problem, because the oil comes in a spray bottle. This makes it really easy to apply the product without drops of oil spilling on the floor or dripping from the bottle. All it takes are a few spritzes and the oil gets nicely distributed on your skin. And then all there’s left to do is massage it in. Very smart of Le Petit Marseillais, I wish all body oils were like this!
The end core: 16,5/20
Easy to use, pleasant texture, and most importantly: smoother and firmer skin with less cellulite! Le Petit Marseillais definitely deserves a 16.5 out of 20 for its Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante. I don’t look like a Victoria’s Secret model (yet! :-P) but I definitely recommend this product.
Le Petit Marseillais Lait Fermeté Hydratant
Le Petit Marseillais’ Lait Fermeté Hydratant promised to not only nourish my skin but to also make it firmer. The nourishing effect is easy to judge: this body milk definitely hydrates my skin. The rich formula hydrates my skin very well and the effect is long-lasting. I find it a lot harder to judge the firming effect of this body milk, though. Why, you ask? Well, I used the Lait Fermeté Hydratant together with the Huile Anti-Cellulite Hydratant and so I don’t really know if it’s the oil or a combination of the oil and the body milk that makes my skin so smooth and firm. Either way, the Lait Fermeté Hydratant does noticeably soften my skin and makes it nice and supple, and who knows, it might even make it firmer as well. All in all this product does everything a good body milk should do, and maybe even more. It’s a keeper!
The Lait Fermeté Hydratant contains star anise, green tea and sesame oil, but just like with the Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiante I don’t recognize either of these scents when I smell the product. The scent is also very subtle. I can smell it when I hold the product to my nose, but otherwise it’s barely noticeable. It doesn’t smell bad at all, but (warning: naughty beauty pun) products that give me a good smellgasm and spontaneously make me go hmmmm always get extra points from me. So I am giving the Lait Fermeté Hydratant an average 2.5 out of 5 for smell.
The Lait Fermeté Hydratant is a body milk and with that you know what the texture is like. Of course it’s not literally like milk, but it’s nice and creamy and noticeably runnier than for example a body cream or body butter. The milk applies easily and smoothly and gets absorbed almost instantly. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling all sticky, and I can easily glide into my skinny jeans without getting stuck half-way and having to bounce bag race-wise around the living room. What do you mean, ‘’that never happens to me’’…?
Packaging and usage
The Lait Fermeté Hydratant comes in a bottle with a pump. I personally find this a lot easier and cleaner than a regular bottle. The pump makes it really easy to get the right amount of product out and it helps to keep the bottle nice and clean. Perfect!
Total score: 16.5/20
I swear it’s a coincidence, but Le Petit Marseillais’ Lait Fermeté Hydratant gets a well-deserved 16.5 out of 20, just like the Huile Anti-Cellulite Tonifiant. I am not sure if this body milk really makes my skin firmer, but it definitely keeps it well hydrated and makes it really soft. It’s also very easy to use. Plus, it doesn’t get feel sticky like many of my other body lotions, and I like that a lot.
In Switzerland both the oil and milk are available at Coop and cost respectively 9.95 and 6.69 CHF.
