Hand creams. I usually have more than one (or even two, three, four…) of them somewhere in the house or in my bag. So I have basically never run out of hand cream. Until about two weeks ago. The night before the horrible event (seriously!) I had apparently used up my last bit of Nivea hand cream and I didn’t have a new tube anywhere in the house. I started rummaging through my beauty stock, but there was no hand cream to be found. But then I found this little guy. The hero of the moment. Kruidvat’s moisturizer.
As I didn’t have many other options, I used it on my hands and to my big surprise it was a great alternative for my regular hand cream! It was even so great that I kept using it throughout the day and that by bed time it had ended up on my night stand (= my altar for the best hand cream in the house). Kruidvat’s moisturizer actually did such a good job as a hand cream that I didn’t even bother buying new hand cream in the weeks after. I’d say that that kind of epic discovery deserves to be mentioned on the blog. Et voilà, today is my lifesaver’s day in the spotlight! Does Kruidvat’s moisturizer do a good job as a facial moisturizer as well? No clue, but as a hand cream it was perfect. Continue reading to find out why exactly.
Intensely hydrating and softening effect
According to the tube, Kruidvat’s moisturizer is suited for normal to mixed skin types, ensures intense hydration and contains skin-repairing pro-vitamin B5 and silk extract that make the skin radiant and silky soft. I can definitely confirm the last two of those three claims: the cream hydrates the very dry skin of my hands really well and makes them feel nice and soft. And not unimportant: the effect lasts. So as far as hydration and softening goes, Kruidvat’s moisturizer does just as well as a real hand cream!
Pleasant texture and easy absorption
Because most hand creams are very rich, they don’t get completely absorbed by the skin and leave your hands feeling a bit sticky. That little greasy protective layer makes them really efficient, but at the same time also a bit unpractical. Kruidvat’s moisturizer is different. The cream has a relatively thick and creamy texture, but still gets absorbed almost instantly. So no sticky hands, and yet they feel nicely soft and supple. This basically makes it the perfect hand cream for on the go!
Will I repurchase this moisturizer and use it as a hand cream again? Well no, because in the end it is still a moisturizer for the face. But Kruidvat’s moisturizer did do one hell of a job replacing my hand cream for a few weeks and was a very worthy alternative!
