Pleasantly surprised by purple: a make-up look with purple eyeshadow

Purple. It’s just not my color. You won’t find purple clothes in my closet and it is no use looking for purple accessories in there either. I don’t have anything purple in my interior and I will never spontaneously paint my bedroom walls purple or put a purple duvet cover on my bed. Not that I hate purple, but it just doesn’t speak to me the way that for example green, my favorite color, and ever fashionable black do.

Knowing that, I’m sure that it doesn’t come as a surprise that I (almost) never wear purple eyeshadow. But today I decided to take up the challenge and to create a look with my least favorite color. I once brought a purple Catrice eyeshadow home from Kruidvat, and that is the color I used this morning.

Catrice Dark Lilac on the whole lid, a small wing in the outer corner of the eye, a bit of black along the lash line, finished off with a tiny bit of pink powder, and ta daaaaa: purple eye make-up! I have to admit that I don’t hate the result. I probably wouldn’t have liked it if it would have been a lighter color purple or a pastel lilac shade, but this particular purple is quite dark and so I actually like it. Eureka!

I always tell people that they should not be afraid to play and experiment with make-up and that it is a shame to get stuck in the same old make-up routine and to always go for the same old colors. But I was actually kind of ignoring my own good advice by always steering away from purples. Pretty silly, right? So from now on I am going to use purple more often!
